Rich in culture and natural beauty, Nepal is the perfect place to get away from the norms of western life. A great place to practice medicine in the foothills of Himalayas. Travel the length and breadth of this culturally enriched country, and discover the diversity and unity amongst its people unlike that of any other nation. Mountain Heart Nepal is offering four-week placements to international medical students/graduates (Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, Public/Global Health students) through the ‘Remote Medicine Placement’ program.
By deploying with Mountain Heart Nepal, you will:
Our basic service package includes:
The Mountain Heart Hospital (Siddhasthali Rural Community Hospital) is located in Hetauda, which is located at a 5 hours’ treacherous drive away from the capital Kathmandu. The hospital is aimed to provide primary healthcare to almost 10,000 patients every year. With the support from Direct Relief, the hospital is under construction after a need for a basic but comprehensive health service outside Kathmandu Valley.
The students are responsible to make their own arrangements for stay in Kathmandu while we arrange transfer to our hospital site in a Direct Relief funded private 4×4. Students can also opt to stay in the hospital accommodation or with a host family.
A one day Kathmandu valley guided tour can be arranged to give students insight into the local Nepalese culture and traditions before beginning the placement. Similarly, a guided tour can be arranged at the end of the placement to Pokhara and Chitwan. These trips are meant to relax and replenish your energy supplies before and after the placement. The tour packages are subjected to availability and at additional costs.
To confirm the placement, full payment must be received no later than 6 weeks before the start date of the placement. The place can be secured by the payment of at least £150 which is refundable if you choose not to proceed with your placement. There are no additional administrative fees but please ensure that students have to bear the bank transfer fees (Paypal outside the UK and bank transfer fees). Mountain Heart Nepal is a non-profit organisation, therefore, all fees are spent on the program to fund your time in Nepal.
For complete enrolment into the elective programs, we will require the following documents which can be sent to admin@mhn.org.np
Once we receive the booking fee of refundable £150 along with the complete application form, a starter pack will be sent in your email within 24 hour. If you need more information, please contact us at admin@mhn.org.np and we will quickly come back to you with an answer.
