Our mission

Mountain Heart Nepal is a registered humanitarian organization dedicated to delivering emergency clinical care, essential medicines, and critical hygiene infrastructure to marginalized and disaster-affected communities across Nepal, bridging health equity gaps during crisis response.

We are a Nepali nonprofit founded in response to the 2015 earthquake. Medical professionals and volunteers are central to our work.

What we work towards

  • Emergency clinical care. Deploy mobile medical camps and volunteer medical teams to communities affected by disasters.
  • Essential medicines and hygiene support. Supply medical essentials, hygiene kits and sanitation resources to displaced families and communities cut off from services.
  • Care closer to home. Improve access through outreach and rural health services.
  • Stronger local services. Support the people, supplies and facilities needed to deliver care.
  • Learning that improves practice. Encourage research and professional learning relevant to Nepal’s health needs.

Our humanitarian principles

Human need is our only condition

All our emergency aid and clinical services are delivered unconditionally, based solely on human need. We provide care without discrimination based on race, age, gender identity, religion, creed, disability status or political affiliation.

Secular and non-proselytizing

We do not use aid or clinical care to promote or recruit for any religion. Receiving support never depends on religious participation, political support or personal belief.

Inclusive and impartial in practice

Our staff and medical volunteers undergo humanitarian code-of-conduct training to support inclusive, impartial and respectful delivery of care and relief. We prioritise people facing the greatest needs and health risks, including displaced women, children and older people.

We coordinate our disaster response directly with local health authorities so that medical teams, supplies and hygiene support respond to local needs.

Turning purpose into action

Our work brings together disaster response, community outreach, rural hospital care and research and learning.
